3 Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 Linked to QHS
Please read the message from QHS Principal Marcus Pimpleton below:

March 24, 2020

Dear Quincy High School Community,

I just got off the phone with the Grant County Health District. At this point we have now had 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to Quincy High School. At this time all students and staff should assume you have been in contact with a confirmed case and quarantine (Stay Home, Stay Healthy), monitoring for symptoms (fever, cough, and shortness of breath.)

With increasing number of Covid-19 cases, Grant County Health District urges Grant County residents to take very seriously the recommendations to limit social contacts and minimize the spread of COVID-19 in the community by adhering to the Governor’s orders.

In addition to the Governor’s orders this means you should not go to work or to grocery stores and that you should avoid public places for 14 days after you last attended school. Contact your Health Care In the event you experience symptoms, contact your health provider and explain that you may have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 at QHS.

Principal

QSD Staff and Families,

We have kept our schools open as long as possible, as recommended by state and local public health authorities. At 1:35 p.m. today, Governor Inslee issued an executive order closing all schools until at least April 24. All Quincy School District schools will close to students, effective Tuesday, March 17. Monday, March 16 is the last day of school, including athletics, activities and clubs. School offices will remain open through Friday, March 20 so families can pick up their student’s medication.

The school day is the centerpiece of the lives of many people and we understand that extended school closure will create hardship. Children count on the reliable routine that a school day offers. Families, too, count on that routine and the knowledge that their children are cared for during the day. Contemplating weeks without that structure and care may seem overwhelming. Please know that we are doing our very best to make decisions that will help care for all of us through this time.

Our first priority is to ensure regular meals for our students. Meal service will be available at Quincy Middle School, Pioneer Elementary, George Elementary and Mountain View Elementary, Monday through Friday from 10:30am-12:30pm. All students who show up will receive breakfast and lunch for free at the same time; we will serve anyone from the age of 0-18 regardless if they attend our school district or not. However, because of social distancing guidelines, all meals must be picked up and consumed elsewhere.

The Quincy School District will be sending frequent updates with information and resources via email, text messages, website and social media channels. Another update will be provided on Monday, March 16th. We are so grateful for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this difficult situation. Please contact your child’s school or the Quincy School District Office if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

John L. Boyd
Superintendent

Gracias

John L. Boyd
Superintendente
