Department of Veteran Services | Welcome to NewMexico.gov – Booking Done

Department of Veteran Services | Welcome to NewMexico.gov

Due to the COVID-19/Novel Coronavirus outbreak in New Mexico, the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is making adjustments to its field office operations.

These adjustment are designed to comply with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s statewide directive to all state agencies to minimize the risk of exposure to people possibly infected with the COVID-19 virus.

Effective March 19th, 2020 the following field offices will remain open for normal business  hours (8am-5pm)—but will only accept appointment-based meetings with veterans:

  • Alamogordo
    • 411 10th Street/#117
    • (575) 437-4635
  • Albuquerque NE Heights (5201 Eagle Rock Ave. NE)
    • 5201 Eagle Rock Ave. NE
    • (505) 383-2400
  • Carlsbad
    • 101 N. Halagueno
    • (575) 885-4939
  • Las Cruces
    • 2024 E. Griggs Ave.
    • (575) 524-6124; (575) 524-6220

The following offices will move to a “telework” operation—also by appointment-only. DVS Veterans’ Service Officers (VSO’s) will be able to offer full-spectrum benefits assistance—including filing for  federal VA claims, and processing applications for state veterans benefits—via telephone or computer:

Self-Filing Online for VA Benefits

For their VA benefits, veterans can also file online at www.ebenefits.va.gov.

Downtown Albuquerque VA and DVS Office

Per a federal directive, the downtown Albuquerque VA Regional Office (VARO) has temporarily suspended its operations at the Dennis Chavez Federal Building at 500 Gold Ave. SW.

DVS has moved its operations in the Chavez Building to the DVS Albuquerque NE Heights office.

Outreach Visits

All outreach visits by DVS VSO’s are temporarily suspended and will resume at a later date—pending conditions relating to the COVID-19/Novel Coronavirus outbreak.  DVS VSO’s will make arrangements to provide outreach on a telework basis (via phone or computer) and will work with outreach-location contacts to establish a schedule.

Community Messaging

Contact information of DVS VSO’s will be posted at all field offices. This information can also be found on the DVS website (www.nmdvs.org) and the DVS Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/nmdvshealthcare2015).

All pertinent news releases sent from the Governor’s office to DVS will in turn be forwarded to all veterans and veterans service organizations currently on the DVS PIO email distribution list.
