1. A Cup of Jo
By: Joanna Goddard
A Cup of Jo is a lifestyle blog with tons of content about relationships, fashion, food, travel, and motherhood. It’s founded by Joanna Goddard who graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001 — now living in New York City.
Joanna works with an in-house editorial team, which includes a couple of content writers.
Unlike most blogs in other niches, A Cup of Jo doesn’t focus a lot on long-form content. However, each post is more than polished — making sure the author’s personality shines through on top of Instagram-worthy images.
Apart from publishing insightful content about her many passions, Joanna also consistently donates a percentage of her earnings to charity.

2. The Skinny Confidential
By: Lauryn Evarts Bosstick
The Skinny Confidential is the digital extension of San Diego State University graduate Lauryn Evarts. It covers a range of topics including travel, beauty, skincare, food, weddings, fitness, and style.
Lauryn crammed all these topics into one category dubbed “realness,” which is perhaps the most interesting aspect of her blog.
After reading her blog, you’ll know that she isn’t bound to any rule that pertains to content writing.
It’s just her — talking to her audience, expressing herself, and making sure readers learn something new each time. Her artful use of swear words for emphasis is solid evidence of that.
Apart from blog posts, some of the mediums Lauryn uses to communicate her ideas are videos, books, and image galleries. She also runs an entrepreneurial podcast called “The Skinny Confidential HIM & HER” with her husband, Michael Bosstick.

HBFIT is a blog dedicated to owner Hannah Bronfman’s three passions: health, beauty, and fitness.
Just like The Skinny Confidential, HBFIT’s content is like a digital doorway to Hannah’s everyday life. It discusses topics related to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness — from date night beauty tips to acupuncture.
Hannah also regularly shares holiday gift ideas and “Studio Spotlights,” wherein she reviews establishments that provide wellness services. At times, Hannah also publishes pieces about travel experiences.

6. Thirteen Thoughts
By: Paula
Thirteen Thoughts is the brainchild of Paula — a blogger and self-taught photography expert.
In addition to lifestyle, her blog also covers topics in photography, beauty, and blogging.
In one particular interview, Paula revealed that she never took paid online courses to get where she is now. But that didn’t stop her from offering her very own, free blogging course that I recommend to aspiring fashion bloggers.
If you haven’t started your lifestyle blog yet, you should look at Thirteen Thoughts for inspiration. It goes to show how far anyone can go if they persevere, be patient, and stay true to their passions.

7. goop
Yes — that is Gwyneth Paltrow from the Iron Man films in the photo above.
And yes — she is the founder of the next featured lifestyle blog, goop.
Fun fact: Gwyneth chose the name “goop” because of a joke that all big-name online companies have two O’s. Some examples are Google, Yahoo, and Facebook.
Take that and add Gwyneth’s initials and you have goop.
The takeaway here is, you shouldn’t forget to have fun when picking a name for your blog. As long as it’s brandable and catchy, it should stick.
Anyway, goop started out as Gwyneth’s passion project way back in 2008. The first-ever piece of content she published was a newsletter featuring recipes for turkey ragu and banana-nut muffins.
As of 2020, goop still utilizes newsletters as a primary content distribution channel. They also sell their own line of skincare products along with fashion pieces from various designers.
It’s also worth mentioning that goop has physical retail locations across the US, UK, and Canada. These establishments are called goop Labs

8. Katie Did What
By: Katie Michelle Reyes
There’s something about Katie Did What that immediately captured my attention.
My guess is that it was Katie Michelle Reyes’s utilization of photographs that look professional, story-driven, and, above all, authentic.
There’s no question that the images sprinkled all over her site are Instagrammable. But unlike the images used by other big-name lifestyle bloggers, Katie’s photos make you feel like you know her personally.
Additionally, I’m a firm believer in the content writing style that Katie uses on her blog.
Whether she’s talking about fitness, beauty, or fashion, Katie writes as if she’s having a conversation with friends. This practice is in effect even in her online course about lifestyle blogging.
Pro tip: if you’re struggling to write blog posts, scrap the fake and forced professional tone and just write naturally.
By that, I mean writing in first person and addressing your audience directly — spiced up with colloquial language if possible. This isn’t an ideal strategy for all niches, but it takes away the pressure and stress associated with content writing.

Like many big-name brands in the lifestyle niche, Elsie and Emma work with an in-house team, which isn’t surprising. After all, A Beautiful Mess is one of the very few lifestyle blogs that develop their own standalone mobile apps.

12. The Blonde Abroad
By: Kiersten “Kiki” Rich
The story of Kiersten Rich — AKA The Blonde Abroad — is something many bloggers are all too familiar with.
Just like most people, Kiersten was raised under the belief that graduating and securing stable employment were keys to success.
In 2011, Kiersten took a break from work to travel across Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Bali, New Zealand, and Australia. That’s when she realized that she was meant for more than just keeping an office job.
To me, it all goes back to the fact that being a successful blogger requires a leap of faith.
You just can expect maximum results from blogging without going all-in first.
Sure, you can turn it into a side project that you only check up on from time to time. But if you want to turn it into a viable career path, you should give your utmost dedication and attention.
Going back on topic, The Blonde Abroad isn’t just your run-of-the-mill travel blog. A much better description would be a handbook for people who want to embrace travel as a way of life.
It will teach you about the different types of travel, photography for non-professionals, the art of packing, and more. e

And guess what — she totally smashed that goal.
Today, Aileen spends most of her time traveling and producing quality travel-related articles on her blog. Some of the topics she covers include travel activities, food, travel destinations, money management, and career advice.

19. The Confused Millennial
By: Rachel Ritlop
Previous generations call millennials many things. Sadly, not all of them are positive.
However, everyone can agree that millennials can be incredibly talented, resourceful, and stylish.
Rachel Ritlop — AKA The Confused Millennial — proves this.
Using her blog, Rachel rallied thousands of millennials across the globe to face the challenges of “adulting” together.
Adulting refers to the challenges that most, if not all, millennials face as they step into the real world. This includes managing one’s finances, handling relationships, paying off debts, and so on.
Other than adulting, Rachel also tackles topics like travel, beauty, and health. Of course, content ideas under these categories are still written to address the everyday pain points of millennials.

20. Brooklyn, I’m Trying
By: Liz Norment
Rising star blogger Liz Norment created Brooklyn, I’m Trying to inspire Brooklyn-based readers to explore their urban environment and beyond.
Brooklyn, I’m Trying is one of the best examples of a local niche blog. By targeting readers in a specific geographic location, Liz produces highly relatable and relevant posts that can spread like wildfire.
Some examples of the blog’s content are restaurant recommendations, city guides, urban fashion and beauty tips. If you’d like a closer look at Liz’s artistic side, check out the entries under the “Poetry” and “Inspiration” categories.
The story behind Brooklyn, I’m Trying is actually quite similar to goop’s. It started out as an email that contained Liz’s weekend plans — broadcasted weekly to a select few.
What Liz didn’t count on were the recipients who forwarded her email to their own circles.
Eventually, her inboxes were flooded with inquiries from people who read her weekly emails. That’s when Liz knew that she needed her own blog.

21. Lauren Scruggs Kennedy
By: Lauren Scruggs Kennedy
What do successful lifestyle blogs have in common?
Fine — there are probably dozens of good answers to the question above. But if you ask me about the factor that makes lifestyle blogs great, my answer would be “a belief.”
If you want your lifestyle blog to be remembered, you need to establish principles that influence your way of life. These principles must be replicable, relatable, and completely life-changing
Lauren Scruggs Kennedy has a simple, inspirational belief that “everything in life revolves around wellness rooted in balance.”
It’s something she thought up while recovering from an unfortunate accident that cost her her left arm.
The best way to understand this belief is to look at all the work Lauren has put out thus far. A great place to start would be her book, Still LoLo, which tells her journey from the accident to healing.

23. The Blonde Salad
By: Chiara Ferragni
The Blonde Salad owner Chiara Ferragni’s track record is nothing short of impressive.
When Chiara established her personal brand in 2009, everything went uphill from there.
In 2015, Harvard Business School had a study case based on her entire career. Forbes also included Chiara in the “30 Under 30” list for the “Art and Style” sphere.
These accomplishments, of course, are well justified.
The Blonde Salad brand, along with the Chiara Ferragni Collection, exemplify why she made it big as a digital entrepreneur.
With Chiara’s remarkable sense of style, she can build Instagrammable outfits around plain shirts in her sleep.
As far as content goes, The Blonde Salad gets rid of all fluff and straight into the good stuff. The site relies more on images that tell a story rather than paragraphs of meaningless text.
You can observe this strategy across all content categories on The Blonde Salad — be it fashion, beauty, or lifestyle.

24. Julie Blanner
By: Julie Blanner
Before Julie Blanner became a full-time lifestyle blogger, she invested years into Coordinately Yours — her own event planning firm.
Over time, she developed a signature style that eventually gave the Julie Blanner blog its identity.
It’s not just about home decorations, food, and style — it’s about all of those things in practical, DIY packages.
Her target readers are people who want to accomplish things with their own hands. This covers interior design, gardening, purposeful cooking, beauty, and even parenthood.
As a side note, I’m personally a huge fan of Julie Blanner’s simple-yet-elegant website design. It’s clean, aesthetic, fast, and makes excellent use of white space.

28. Gia Says That
By: Gia Kashyap
For me, it’s always a pleasure to come across blogging success stories from my own country.
Gia Kashyap of Gia Says That is another example.
The career trajectory that led her to blogging begins from a fashion columnist job in a well-known Indian publication. This nurtured her love for fashion as an art until it’s too big to be contained in an office environment.
Gia now spends most of her time producing content for her blog while following her own editorial guidelines. As a result, her writing talent and voice shined as bright as ever — evident in the blog’s sizeable content library.
Today, Gia can teach you anything from a 90-second travel skincare routine to 10 ways to lighten up dark circles.
She also talks about travel, which brings us to one of the unique features in her blog called “#GiaGoesTo.”
What the page does is simple: map the places where Gia has been over the past two years.
This is solid proof that you can come up with unique ideas if you’re passionate enough about your niche. It’s so helpful, I’m actually surprised why every travel blogger has a similar page on their site yet.

29. SuperHit Ideas
SuperHit Ideas is a simple blog that has a treasure of everyday hacks that can improve your quality of life.
It’s an all-around lifestyle blog that covers a wide range of topics for pretty much everyone. It discusses how to take care of your hair, be smart on big purchases, alleviate shoulder pain, and more.
Curiously, I wasn’t able to find information about the blog’s founder nor its writers. It’s also counterintuitive to me how the site doesn’t seem to focus on a particular sub-niche.
Despite these quirks, SuperHit Ideas do get thousands of traffic each month. Their success most likely has to do with the quality of their content and their hyper-active link building campaign.
If you want to replicate their success, you should pick up an SEO analytics tool and scan their backlink profile.

Amber’s goal is simple: to inspire and teach her audience something new through her own experiences. She also uses Barefoot Blonde to encourage her readers to embrace and celebrate their own uniqueness.
If you want to witness Amber’s experiences as she sees it, you can check out her YouTube channel. She mostly uploads “Travel Diary” entries, but you should also see a lot of video tutorials.

39. Middle Aged Mama
By: Janet Camilleri
Janet Camilleri is the blogger behind the Middle Aged Mama, one of the terms she likes to be known for.
She also refers to herself as a “crazy cat lady,” but that’s just a small part of her. She’s also a chocolate lover, traveler, loving wife, and an award-winning businesswoman.
Middle Aged Mama consists of entries on health, style, career, parenting, being married, gardening, and more.
After experiencing redundancy in her government job, Janet decided to pursue her dreams of working from home and writing full-time.
Back then, her blog was called “Redland City Living,” which was re-branded as Middle Aged Mama. That’s because the original name made it hard to entice readers who don’t reside in the area.
In her blog, Janet also gets to share her words wisdom based on her hard-won experiences.
You do get the feeling that her content is made specifically for other middle-aged women. Even the simplistic site looks like it could use a visual update.
However, those aspects of the blog only added to the brand’s wholesome image. After all, one of Janet’s vision statements is “Fashion from the Real World” — stylish choices that don’t cost a fortune.
If you think being middle-aged is something you should fear, that’ll undoubtedly change after you read this blog.

46. Primer Magazine
By: Andrew Snavely
Andrew Snavely started the Primer Magazine fresh out of college.
It’s actually an interesting story that relates to one of the most memorable pieces of advice I’ve heard somewhere.
“If you have questions, the best thing to do is go out there and find the answer yourself.”
That’s exactly what Andrew did during his “quarter-life crisis.”
After graduation, Andrew was filled with uncertainties regarding his future path to success, including questions about his career and lifestyle. Since he couldn’t find answers anywhere, he chose to step into the real world to find the answers himself.
At first, Andrew worked for a Hollywood advertising agency for over six years — pouring all his leftover time into Primer.
By tackling every challenge head-on, Andrew was rewarded with the skills and know-how needed for personal growth. That’s when he knew that Primer Magazine should be tailored to the needs of the “self-made man.”
His goal was to help guys in their 20’s overcome challenges that keep them from becoming their best selves. Some of the topics covered are investing, grooming, budgeting, entrepreneurship, physical fitness, and many more.

50. The Rugged Male
By: Maxwell
I know, I haven’t talked much about lifestyle blogs for men.
That’s why I decided to wrap up this post with The Rugged Male. Put simply, it’s a blog for men with the desire to discover and enhance their lifestyle.
In case you didn’t know, “rugged” can be used to describe a male with attractively strong and rough-hewn physical features. It can also describe someone who’s tough and determined, which are qualities every man in this day and age needs.
The Rugged Male is headed by Maxwell — a mathematics degree holder with experience in the healthcare, tech, and hotel industries. He started the blog along with his digital marketing agency based in Los Angeles, California.
Maxwell works with a team of contributors who are equally as dedicated to the art of manhood. Together, they write about fashion, food, beverages, health, and the lifestyle components of being a rugged male.
